Erick Rudolph passes Matt Sheppard to win Super DIRT Series special at Ransomville

Erick Rudolph is a third-generation racer from Ransomville, New York. Tuesday night, Rudolph passed Matt Sheppard on the 51st lap and went on to win the Ron Martin, Super DIRTcar Series big-block modified special at the Ransomville Speedway.

The victor pocketed a $7,500 check for his convincing triumph on his hometown oval. It was Rudolph’s 10th career SDS win and second during the 2023 season.

Baldwinsville’s Jimmy Phelps drew the pole for the 75-lap main event and led the first fourteen laps. Matt Sheppard, a nine-time Super DIRT Series champion and its current point leader, then took over the top spot.

Rudolph began chasing down the leader in the second half of the feature and made his pass for the lead on the 51st lap. He then pulled away in the closing laps for his well-earned victory, with Sheppard having to settle for the second position.
